Iran’s Saeid Mohammadpour finished at the fifth place of the Olympic weightlifting in men’s 94-kilogram division on Saturday.

The 19-year-old lifted 183kg in the snatch and 219kg in the clean and jerk. He came fifth with a total of the 402kg.

In this category, Ilya Ilyin claimed the gold medal by lifting 185kg in the snatch and a world-record 233kg  in the clean and jerk for a total of 418kg. That was also a world record, a whopping six kilograms better than the pre-competition mark set in 1999.

"That's what I was aiming for, and it's going to stay for a long time," said Ilyin, never short on self-esteem.

Silver medal went to Alexandr Ivanov of Russia, registering a total of 409kg that exceeded Ilyin's Olympic record from 2008.

Anatoli Ciricu of Moldova took bronze, two kilograms behind Ivanov.
